National Program for External Quality Assessment (iTQAN)
To continuously improve health care outputs and meet the expectations of the service recipient, it is important to adhere to the right standards and perform safely and affordably.
As a result, the National Program for External Quality Control (NPEQA) known as Etqan was established at the National Center for Public Health Laboratories in October 2021 under the auspices of His Excellency Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha Ahmed al-Mutawakel and Dr. Abdulelah al-Harazi.
The analysis of data is done using statistical methods to test efficiency and compare laboratories.
Importance of Participation in the Efficiency Testing Program
Participation in competency testing programs opens the way for stakeholders from laboratories and others involved in monitoring laboratory performance to benefit from several aspects, including:
- Ensure performance efficiency.
- Identify any problems with tests or measurements.
- Compare screening methods and procedures.

The Republic of Yemen’s public and private laboratories must be leaders in terms of patient quality and safety, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of their service to meet the needs and expectations of the society they serve.
